The Trinity
The trinity of the God-head is one of profound mysteries of Christianity. To understand the Trinity is to understantd how God can be one God, and yet three distinct persons simultaneously. The Trinity of the God-head involves two paradoxical concepts, the unity of God and the distinction of persons within the God-head. We will look at each of these separately.
1. There are no gods but God alone (Isa 43:10) God is called the "only true God" ( John 17:3) because every idol which people might worship is in reality a "fasle god" (1 Cor 8:4) which the scriptures labels "lying vanities". Read Jer. 10:1-16.
2. The scripture clearly teaches that there is a plurality within the unified God-head. Gen 1:26 "Let us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness.) The Trinity is fully God, God is not divided. Col 2:9 says that "for in Him (Jesus) all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form." Jesus is no less God than the Father Himself (John 1:1) The Holy Spirit was lied to by Ananias saying "lying to the Holy Spirit, you have lied not to man, but to God. (Acts 5:3,4)
